UPDATE: Sightings – 4.1.12:  “There is a black Shepherd at point pleasant park he has been lost there for 2 weeks…”  This dog is skittish and has a collar.  Animal Control has been notified, but the dog is still there.  If this dog is sighted again, please call Animal Control: 490-4000 immediately… the sooner they know the better chance they have of catching this poor dog.

Additional Notes: Sighted: Roaming dog – older male German Shepherd Dog, very dark in colour, some grey on muzzle. Timid. He looks to be in good condition, but I was this same dog on Saturday morning (around 8:30am) in Point Pleasant Park, near Franklin Street, so he has been loose since at least then.

I was just at Sobeys in Truro (on the side by the NSLC section) and there was a full grown chocolate lab with a blue collar (with tags?) and one of those small metal choke collars. He saw me, hackles went up and tail went between his legs and he gave a scared growl and took off. I was probably 10-15 feet away. When he took off a dark cat also followed him. I called to the dog, crouched down, etc and whistled. He stopped about 50 feet away but refused to come closer and when I took 2-3 slow steps he took off behind Sobeys. The cat was with him/her the entire time and followed the dog. The dog even sniffed/possibly licked the cat once so they know each other.

Sobeys in Truro at 8:30pm, full grown chocolate lab, light blue collar and choke chain, very skittish with a full grown dark coloured cat as a side kick.

SIGHTED: Roaming Dog: There was a German Shepherd walking around Windsor Junct. Near Lakeveiw about 10:30 pm, Thursday Night, 2.23.12. We stopped but it ran away into the woods. A neighbor came out and said she had tried calling the dog but it avoided her as well.

Sighted: Roaming dogs on Irish Mtn Rd. Churchville Pictou County. There was a large husky (Malamute?) and a golden doodle roaming together on Irish Mtn Feb 13 around 6 pm. Both had collars but no tags. Both were friendly but the husky seemed older and was a bit skittish. Couldn’t get a pic of the doodle. Found Feb 8, 2012 on Hwy 359 route to Halls Harbour and near Gospel Rd turn off- a 1 year old female Lab x chocolate dark brown /black no collar or tag 50 bls-  Please contact Kings Co. Animal Control with any information:  678 – DOGS (3647).

Found Jan 26, 2012–male Beagle about 6+ years old 25 lbs breeder tattoo in ear but not readable wearing a black nylon collar, no tag,  found on the Hiltz Rd, North Mountain Kings County NS between Halls Harbour and Black Rock. –adorable boy definately an indoor guy/not a hunter (lap dog) any help greatly appreciated.  Please Contact: 678 – DOGS (3647).

***STOCK PHOTO***  Sighted: 2/8/12 5:00 pm  – A small shitzu looking dog wandering on the corner of Connelly and Young in the west end. He could be a resident of one of the houses around but there was no human with him and he looked slightly lost – smelling every tree. He was small and fluffy with a grey and white patterned coat.

Sighted:  a white/tan hound dog tonight in the Fraser Mtn. Rd./Linacy area. (Pictou County) No collar, friendly, gentle, looks taken care of…
