Area: The Ravine/Woods, Moirs Mills , Bedford, HRM, NS

Additional Notes: This slender black dog is roaming slowly up and down the woodsy ravine between Moirs Mills and Acadia Mills in Bedford. Perhaps lab to me or lab mix? Dog was startled when I was walking mine, barked and ran back into the ravine. The dog does not appear hurt. No obvious markings, just black (although it was dark) may be wearing a royal blue collar.

“I found Hurshey around 11:30 this morning. I thought I heard him bark so I headed into the wooded area beside our house. I couldn’t tell if it was my dog crying or a bird chirping. When I was about to turn around and give up, I looked up and found my dog 30ft in the air in a tree. He was terrified and wouldn’t get down. The kind people at Elmsdale fire department came and rescued my dog out of the tree. Thank you everyone for caring and Sharing but Hurshey is now home safe and sound.” From Hurshey’s Very Happy Owner (4.18.13 – 4.19.13)

A HUGE Thank You goes out to the Elmsdale Fire Department for getting Hurshey down from the tree.  They thought at first it was some kind of joke… My dog is stuck in a tree??  Ha-ha… These great guys all showed up to see this for themselves and were the heroes of the day when they got Hurshey out of the tree safely. Yip Yip Yippee!!

RAINBOW BRIDGE: Passed Away:  SAD NEWS — Sammy was put to sleep yesterday morning. He was suffering from renal failure, discovered when they took him to the vet when they found him. Posted by a family friend a few hours ago on BSMAS: “Unfortunately Sammy wasn’t running away, he was trying to die somewhere on his own. We took him to the vet as soon as we found him and he was suffering from renal failure. We put him to sleep yesterday morning. Rip Sammy dog. His buddy of two years (German Shepard ironically named mojo) is pitiful. He can smell him everywhere but can’t find him. He lays in Sammy’s spot under the tree. Ronnie and Danielle are spending a lot if time with him to keep him calm.” Our heartfelt condolences go out to Sammy’s family. (4.16.13 – 4.21.13)

Additional Notes: Sammy is a big boned golden retriever. He is over weight and extremely furry. Although Sammy is a pure bread golden retriever the color of his fur resembles that of a yellow lab. He is identifiable as a golden retriever by his fur however. Sammy has the sweetest face and dark brown eyes. He has a calm and loving temperament. Sammy was last seen on Tuesday, April 16th, 2013. He was seen in the early afternoon by our neighbor covered head to toe in mud.
