What a wonderful website!  Thank you so much—Molly came home from the bush around 1:00 am and scratched on the door to be let in.  Covered in bits of brush but her curly fuzzy thorn-proof coat kept her warm and safe in the sub-zero woods.—and thankthe lord off the ice on the lake and little streams. We trust there won’t be a reply of this scenario ever again…..

February 8th, 5pm
Please be advised that there is a dog seemingly lost in the Caribou River area. It was sighted running along the Sunrise Trail near the R.Grant Road this afternoon approximately 1:00pm and has been sighted again around 4:00pm near and around MacKay’s Cottages on the Shore Road.
It is reddish brown in color and the size of a large Labrador. It appears to have a ‘boxer/lab cross’ type face and is wearing a collar. It did not appear to be injured.

He is a small-medium size dog with the coloring of a Rottweiler, with long nose and tail. Very friendly but stubborn, so would need coaxing before he would come to you. He is wearing a collar and Kings County tag, and is microchipped.

Additional Notes: A tiny tan chihuahua has been seen feeding from a stray cat food dish in Greenwood, NS.  It has been seen several times over the last week and is looking very skinny (ribs/hips showing).  It is extremely skittish and will not come towards people, instead choosing to run into the woods.  Atlantic Small Dog Rescue has quickly taken action and set up two Live Traps (humane) in the area.  If you know of this dog, or have any information please contact:

Additional Notes: Emma weighs 40 pounds, has brown eyes, and has a whitish band of fur across her upper back/shoulder blades. She just had puppies 10 weeks ago and still has protruding teats. She’s not a really big dog but she’s very sweet. She was sitting in my front yard chewing on a ball and didn’t want to come in the house. Minutes later she had taken off. Normally she comes back when she’s called – but not this time. It’s highly unusual for her to do this.

It’s likely she went off into the woods somewhere on the Main Shore Road in Yarmouth.

I just want to know what happened to her. Even if someone finds her body…I would like to know so that I can get some closure. Thank you.

Additional Notes: She has long hair that is grey,white and black and her tail is all black.
She is very friendly and listens to commands such as sit, out, no,come here.
She is whimpering all the time as I am sure she misses her family.
Looks to me as though she might have recently had puppies? Her fur on her back end was dirty and sticky and her breasts are hanging and the fur around those was also sticky and dirty. ( I gave her a bath) 🙂
If she did have puppies that would explain as to why she seems to be always looking for something.

I found her wandering the sub division on Feb 2nd 2012. She was in my yard all the time and she didn’t look familiar to me. So after seeing her for 3 days around my house I knew she was lost. and since she was always in my yard I took her in and here we are 🙂

HAPPY ENDING: Home, safe and sound!! Yippee!!   Just got the call that IZZY is found! Lynn and Peter are thrilled. She pointed out that when Izzy was located and she was approaching her that Izzy seemed confused – but then remembered that EVEN an OWNER should crouch low when a dog is in fright/flight mode so they feel less threatened.
