Area: Ashdale Ave at Titus St, Fairview, Halifax Co., NS

Additional Notes: Around 5:00 AM November 12/2017 I came across a young Dark Honey coloured Golden Retriever (likely between 1-3 years old, he looked young) running lose and wandering without a collar around Ashdale Avenue between the Boss Plaza on Titus Street. This dog was skittish and timid but stopped when I whistled to him and spoke to him. I followed him as far as I could until he ran behind a dark shaded back yard and between a fenced off area by the Boss Plaza construction site. I back tracked to the other side of the Boss Plaza Property but could not see him after this. I phoned the Halifax Regional Police Dispatch and the woman I spoke to took my name and sent an officer to go check to see if they could track him down.

This dog was visibly young and cold. Though he stopped when I called to him, he was shivering and wanted to keep moving. I am hoping to get this information out so that the owner or someone who knows this dog may be able to get him back as soon as possible.

HAPPY ENDING: Home, Safe n’ Sound! Yeah!!  From his new friends at Basinview Animal Hospital: “Owners were found and he’s been returned. Thanks everyone!” That’s fantastic news! Also from his family: “This is my Gunner! Thank you so much i almost lost my best friend today. Whoever brought hjm to the vet i couldnt thank enough. He is micro chipped and they called me right away. If anyone knows who found him please let me know id love to thank them.” And yes, thanks to all who cared and shared…another Happy Ending! YIPPEE!! Additional Notes: This little guy followed us our whole walk, always one step ahead of me. I tried so hard to get him but I had my newborn in the stroller and my dog was pretty excited and hard to hold. On the Atlantic View Rrail in between conrad road and west Lawrencetown road. Last seen on the West Marsh Bridge. Headed to Conrad’s.

Area: Headed North after 42 Woodward Crescent, Clayton Park, Halifax, NS

Additional Notes: SIGHTED: Two, older adult Golden Retrievers running north on Woodward Cresent. Seen at dusk, definitely no collar on one of them and therefore no leash or tether dragging behind, sex unknown, one did seem heavier than the other. Dogs both seemed friendly but moved off purposefully, could not get within arms reach.

RAINBOW BRIDGE: Passed Away: NSLDN sends their sincere condolences to Benji’s family. May memories of shared love ease the pain of his passing. RIP Benji (10.31.17 – 11.4.17)

 

UPDATE: 11.1.17 – Benji was hit by a car at 5:00 pm on Hwy 103, but was able to keep running. Hours of searching found nothing. If you live in the area, please search under decks, sheds, shrubbery, etc….as he could be injured and hiding. The owners want to find him no matter what, so please don’t hesitate to report any information. Thank you.
