TROOPER’s swollen neck and head after four days in a snare!

HAPPY ENDING: Home, Safe n’ Sound! Yeah!! But Trooper has a sad tale to tell… He arrived home Wednesday evening with a snare around his neck! From his Family: “…He had a snare around his neck Trooper’s head was swollen twice the size ….can’t even imagine the struggles he went through hanging off the side of a tree with a snare around his neck for the last 4 days and nights, Along with all the miserable weather we’ve had freezing rain, cold temps -20 and high winds. We live in a rural area and understand that it’s our responsibility to keep our pets on our own property, not running at large but accidents happen. Note: to hunters/trappers it’s your responsibility to check your snare’s daily not every 4 or 5 days. Also I am pretty sure there is a distance of where you are allowed to set snares from a residential area.” I don’t think this could have been said better…and this is not posted to set off a firestorm about trapping, please keep your comments polite and relevent to Troopers case. Trooper is very lucky that he was set free, managed to get home, and is recovering well after seeing a Vet. Thank you to all who cared and shared his info. (1.19.19 – 1.23.19)

Additional Notes: Trooper wondered out of the yard Saturday Jan 19th 2019 around 1:00pm. He is a very friendly pup, he is about 30 pounds with a short haired black shiny coat and white markings under his chest and chin. 🐾
